As the holiday shopping season approaches, online scams are becoming increasingly rampant. Check Point Research (CPR), a cybersecurity solutions provider, discovered that in the month leading up to Amazon's recent promotional event, over 1,000 new Amazon-related domains were registered - with 88% identified as malicious or suspicious, likely created by scammers.

In the past two weeks alone, CPR identified 100 phishing emails disguised as Amazon Prime notifications. Scammers have also been targeting Prime members with calls claiming account issues and requesting payment information. CPR observes that fraudulent activities typically surge during major shopping events. Many phishing emails impersonate trusted organizations to steal sensitive user data.

Additionally, scammers often use number-spoofing techniques to mass-dial potential victims while falsifying caller ID information to mislead recipients. iTalkBB has recently received customer reports about scam calls impersonating our service. These calls are technologically spoofed and do not originate from iTalkBB. The personal information used by scammers was obtained through illegal means like fake websites, not through any iTalkBB data breach. Customers may have inadvertently exposed their information during online shopping or other activities.

We urge all users to remain vigilant in protecting their privacy and financial security. Review the security tips below to avoid becoming a victim of cybercrime during this shopping season.
